The use of LiPo batteries has revolutionised electric flight. The power-to-weight ratio of this type of battery has meant that either longer flights or more powerful motors can be used. But their use requires care: over-charging can lead to overheating, fire and even explosions, and over discharging can ruin the pack.

CSM has been working in collaboration with designers JG to produce two little electronic gadgets to help you get the best from your LiPo batteries, safely.

It is necessary to prevent LiPo batteries from overcharging, but traditional LiPo protection circuits simply terminate the charge when one cell goes above 4.25 volts. This gradually reduces pack capacity because the imbalance between cells increases slightly with each cycle.
The JG/CSM LiPo Balancer eliminates the problem of cell imbalance. LiPo balancers allow all cells to reach 4.20v without overcharging, allowing your LiPo pack to reach its maximum life span.
We also provide transparent heat shrink, so you can protect your balancers without obscuring the LEDs

LiPo batteries are easily damaged by discharging below 3v per cell, but this is difficult to judge when in flight. This on board voltage
monitor will warn the pilot of low battery state, and can be set to any voltage between 2.4 and 3.5 volts.
Suitable for use with 2 to 10 cell packs.

The number of Balancers you will need is the same as the number of cells in series (cells in parallel can share a balancer).
So a 3s1p pack and a 3s4p pack would both need three balancers.
