TROUBLESHOOTING FAQ
- NO MATTER WHAT I DO I CAN'T SEEM TO ADJUST THE GYRO GAIN
Remember any gain adjustment will only be recognized by the gyro at power up, so
if you adjust the gain you will need to cycle the power.
- EVERYTHING SEEMS FINE UNTIL JUST BEFORE THE MODEL LEAVES THE
GROUND, WHEN THE MODEL SPINS RAPIDLY AND UNCONTROLLABLY
The sense of the gyro is working the wrong way around, you will need to mount the
gyro upside down to it's present position. Note. reversing the rudder channel from the
transmitter will NOT correct this, the gyro must be physically re
positioned.
- I CAN'T STOP THE TAIL WAGGING UNTIL I TURN THE GYRO GAIN DOWN
SO LOW THAT THE GYRO IS HARDLY WORKING
This can be caused by several factors. Make sure that the tail linkages are
smooth and slop free. The gyro should be mounted in an area of minimum vibration, (i.e.
not at the extreme front of the radio tray if it is reasonably flexible), and the whole
model should be as free from vibration as possible. (i.e. should not be visible).
If the boom supports or boom support clamp are loose, this will have a large effect on the
performance of the gyro, try flexing the boom from side to side whilst holding the body of
the helicopter still, look for any movement no matter how small and get rid of it. The
boom clamp must not be able to slide on the boom. Make sure all boom support ends are
firmly attached and that none of the joints can move. A slow or low quality servo can also
cause this condition.
- THE TAIL CONSTANTLY TWITCHES AND WON'T SIT STILL IN THE HOVER
This is usually caused by the gyro picking up vibration, this can be caused by an
out of balance model, a rough running engine or just by a component that is not mounted
securely enough in the model, typical examples of this are loosely fitting canopy's or the
battery / receiver pack which will cause resonance on an otherwise well balanced model.
